Tribute to David W Anderson

Sadly On Feb 9 –2007 the wonderful fun filled music filled David W Anderson passed away ,Dave was huge friend and inspiration to many people through out New Zealand ,he had a real passion for Acoustic Folk Music ,lately he had been playing live gigs at Al’s Bar in Christchurch . I have been Jamming and recording Music With Dave since 1986 . An unlikely combination Acoustic Guitar with Synthesisers -electronics but we worked well and had a feel for each others work, We had a lot of fun recording and I feel so happy that Dave left behind some Recordings for all to hear in particular I have a great version of “The Sunroom Song” a fantastic Original Track written by Dave. He also taught me a lot about music and music culture through his vast musical knowledge and his huge eclectic and ever increasing collection of classic LPs {yes vinyl}. Some of his favorites were-Donovan-Incredible String Band-Bonzo Dog Band-Gong-Grateful dead-Pere Ubu-the list goes on. He loved teaching guitar to people of all ages and ultimately “lived for music” On March 18 2007 a Tribute gig was held at Al’s bar to honour Dave it was such a buzz to see some of Christchurch ’s favorite musicians such as Andy Thompson-Billy Vallance-Steve Gainsford also bands like Driving Sideways all pay final respect to Dave Anderson. Full respect to Dave Mitchell for organising and Al Park for the use of his Bar ... Like all things in life and music we cycle around and it has been so warming to meet new people associated with David!!!…we love you! we miss you! ..go well RIP.

“ Local legend Al has finally realised his dream of owning his own bar...It’s a real groovy venue with an emphasis on music for the old, the young, the old but young at heart and the young but old at heart...Echoes from the past can be heard in tribute nights to late, great rockers, organised by the one and only Dave Mitchell. “
